Installation Steps
If you have experience with using mods in Baldur's Gate 3, 90% of the steps are most likely already done in your case.
Requirements
- Inworld Account - You need an Inworld account so that you can connect to the server for all the features.
- Baldur's Gate 3 Script Extender
Steps
-
Create an Inworld Account Link
Mod is completely free, and Inworld doesn't require any payment for main usage as well. You can just start with the free tier if you want. Once you create your account, we need to generate an API Key so that you can use the system. To generate that:- Log into Inworld Studio.
- Go to ANY workspace within Inworld (literally any Workspace, even initial one that is created for you should be fine).
- Once you enter their studio account interface, select “Integrations” under “Developer tools”
- Click on “Generate new key”
-
Download BG3 Mod Manager Link (Optional if you already have a mod manager)
- If you haven’t launched BG3 before, do that. It will create the required folders for this step. Also, you shouldn’t be playing this mod before passing the Act of Mindflayer ship, so play the game a little before trying to use this mod. Also, make sure that your graphics settings are set to Borderless Window or Windowed and you are playing with DirectX 11.
- Launch the application and select the Baldur’s Gate 3 installation directory. Now you’re ready to install mods. -
Download Baldur’s Gate Script Extender Link (Optional if you already have it installed)
- Download the extender from here (Use the regular version without the console)
- Extract DWrite.dll to the Baldurs Gate 3\bin directory (e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin)
- Once you install the game, launch the game. This will ensure that Script Extender will be fully initialized. -
Download And Install the Mod Link
- You will see two parts of the mod. One is a .pak file. The other one is a folder with an executable in it.
- Open BG3 Mod Manager, keep it open. Drag and drop the .pak file in the Mod folder to this app. Make sure it’s on the “Active Mods” side and click the Save icon. To ensure that it’s actually saved, click Refresh and see if it’s still on Active Mods.
Note: If you see a message like "Requires Script Extender v1 or Higher," check section 2.c and launch the game to allow Script Extender to update and set up itself.
- Open the Launcher folder, you will see something like this
Note: There is no requirement to put this Launcher folder somewhere. It will work wherever it is located. As long as it’s working. But it would be wise to put this next to the game’s launcher icon since you need to run this before starting the game always.
- In here, double click and Open BaldursGateInworld.exe. You will see something like this.
- If this is your first time opening the application, then you need to add the Key and Secret provided to the required empty fields and click Save. Once that’s done, you are all set. Also don’t worry, once it’s saved, it’s saved to Windows Credential Manager. Hence it will stay there securely.
- Keep this application (Baldurs Gate III Client) open.
Beware: Mod works only with DirectX11 and with Borderless Window or Windowed modes. If your settings are not this, close the Inworld Launcher, go to your game, make your settings, close the game and come back to this part.
Note: You will always have to keep that application open and staying behind before launching the game.
Now launch your game. Select the DirectX 11 option (Not Vulkan).
- Great! Now load your save game. Once everything is loaded, press F. You will see a screen like this:
- Select your companion and start talking. There is no text option, so you have to use your voice.
